Stricker Strikes It Big at Barclays

Steve Stricker shot a final-round 69 at The Barclays yesterday to best K.J. Choi and hoist his first trophy in over six years. Stricker's four birdies in the final five holes capped a masterful run at Choi, who'd taken a one-stroke lead with two enormous birdie putts. Stricker's 16-under 268 was good enough for a 2-shot win over the pack.

"I never knew if I was going to win again," said Stricker, 40, of his long drought. "It was hard, but it was fun." Meanwhile, perennial favorite Tiger Woods took the tournament off for a much needed rest, though it meant falling almost 5,000 points behind the winner in this year's FedEx Cup chase.
