Ensign Helped Aide's Hubby Get Pair of Jobs

Doug Hampton stopped working for Sen. John Ensign—who was having an affair with Hampton’s wife—in April of last year; he then took jobs with two firms with very tight ties to his former boss, Politico reports. Said an Ensign rep: “Just as he has done for many other staff members, Sen. Ensign made recommendation calls for Mr. Hampton,” the AP reports.

First, Hampton worked at a consulting firm whose founders ran the national senatorial fundraising committee Ensign chaired; then he moved to an airline whose CEO is a big Ensign donor. That airline was also one of Hampton’s first clients at the consulting firm. The firm said that “no Ensign-related entity paid November Inc. for his services”; a rep for the airline said Hampton’s “experience and credentials” had landed him the job there.
