The world has probably already seen the complete work of Gabriel García Márquez, the Guardian reports. Friend and fellow author Plinion Apuleyo Mendoza said last year that the creator of magical realism was working on a new novel, but his agent recently quashed that rumor. "I don't think that García Márquez will write anything else," Carmen Balcells said.
Gerald Martin, Márquez’ biographer, agrees. "I also believe that Gabo won't write any more books, but I don't think this is too regrettable, because as a writer it was his destiny to have a totally coherent literary career many years before the end of his natural life," Martin said. García Márquez, 82, is rumored to be holding on to a number of older, finished manuscripts, which will probably not see publication before his death.
