Obama, Clinton Collect Biggest War Chests

Democratic presidential candidates Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton are neck-and-neck —and both way ahead of the pack— in campaign fundraising, according to their latest filings with the Federal Election Commission. Obama has about $34 million in primary cash on hand, Clinton has $33 million and John Edwards is a distant third with $12 million.

Overall, Obama has pulled in about $57 million for the primaries and an additional $2 million or the general election. Clinton has amassed over $40 million for the primaries and $12.6 million for the main event. On the GOP side of the ledger, Republican long-shot Ron Paul now has more cash on hand ($2.4 million) than John McCain ($2 million).
