President Trump says the US has destroyed Iran's largest bridge. A senior US official tells the Wall Street Journal that American forces carried out two airstrikes Thursday on the B1 Bridge, a major link between the capital and the city of Karaj, aiming to disrupt Iran's ability to move ballistic missile and drone components across the country. In a post on Truth Social, Trump shared videos of part of the $400 million suspension bridge, which was still under construction, collapsing onto a causeway, the Guardian reports.

  • "The biggest bridge in Iran comes tumbling down, never to be used again — Much more to follow!" Trump wrote. "IT IS TIME FOR IRAN TO MAKE A DEAL BEFORE IT IS TOO LATE, AND THERE IS NOTHING LEFT OF WHAT STILL COULD BECOME A GREAT COUNTRY!"

Iranian state media said the second strike hit as rescuers responded to the first. Two people were killed and several others injured. The BBC says it has verified images showing a large, new gap in the bridge, with construction cranes visible on either side. The strikes came a day after Trump's primetime address on the war, in which he said the US would hit Iran "extremely hard over the next two to three weeks" and vowed "to bring them back to the Stone Ages, where they belong."

In a post on X, Abbas Araghchi, Iran's foreign minister, shared a photo of the damage and issued a defiant statement. "Striking civilian structures, including unfinished bridges, will not compel Iranians to surrender," he said. "It only conveys the defeat and moral collapse of an enemy in disarray. Every bridge and building will be built back stronger. What will never recover: damage to America's standing."
