Trump References Hiroshima in Iran Strike Comments

After swinging at reports that America's bombs dealt a relatively minor setback to Iran's nuclear problem, President Trump described the US strike on Iran in historic terms: by likening it to the war-ending decision to drop atomic weapons on Japan. The Guardian reports that while at the NATO summit at the Hague Wednesday, Trump had this to say, per the Guardian and Reuters:

• "Had we not succeeded with that hit? That hit ended the war. That hit ended the war. I don't want to use an example of Hiroshima, I don't want to use an example of Nagasaki, but that was essentially the same thing that ended that war. That ended that war. This ended the war. If we didn't take that out, they would have been they'd be fighting right now."

As for what the future holds, the Financial Times quotes Trump as telling reporters, "I think we'll end up having somewhat of a relationship with Iran."
