The polls are closing in the nation's coin-toss presidential election—including in Pennsylvania, North Carolina, Georgia and Michigan, all among the seven swing states expected to decide the winner. Barring surprises, such as Kamala Harris pulling an upset in Iowa or Alaska, or Donald Trump winning in New Mexico or New Hampshire, the race will likely be decided in those seven battlegrounds, per the New York Times.

  • Electoral College count: Trump 101, Harris 49. The winner needs 270.
  • States for Harris: The AP has called New Jersey, Vermont, Connecticut, Massachusetts, Maryland, and Rhode Island for Harris.
  • States for Trump: The AP has called Arkansas, Florida, South Carolina, Indiana, Kentucky, West Virginia, Alabama, Oklahoma, Mississippi, and Tennessee for Trump.

A look at the swing states (with poll closing times in Eastern Standard Time):

  • Georgia, 7pm. Too early to call. The state counts quickly, but Politico warns that the first numbers could be misleading—they'll likely favor Democrats because of early ballots.
  • North Carolina, 7:30pm. Too early to call. The state also counts relatively quickly.
  • Pennsylvania, 8pm. Too early to call. If it's close, it could take days to declare a winner.
  • Michigan, most polls close at 8pm, with the rest at 9pm.
  • Arizona, 9pm.
  • Wisconsin, 9pm.
  • Nevada, 10pm.
