A star is reaching out to support three places suffering after recent mass shootings. "In this moment," Lady Gaga wrote, "I want to channel my confusion, frustration, and fury into hope. Hope that we are there for each other and for ourselves." Through her Born This Way Foundation and a partnership with DonorsChoose.org, the singer plans to fully fund classroom projects in local schools: 14 in Dayton; 23 in Gilroy, Calif.; and 125 in El Paso, CNN reports. Gaga made the announcement Friday on Facebook. She also urged people to check on loved ones and reach out if they're having difficulties. "We need each other," Gaga wrote. "Don't turn away."
In Gilroy, where the injured at a Garlic Festival included at least one high school student, the donation will pay for iPads, books, engineering kits, and other items for classrooms, per the Dispatch. No dollar amounts were specified, but Gilroy teachers posted their thanks for specific contributions. "I know that these building toys will be a perfect way to introduce STEM projects to my young learners," a teacher wrote. Another said his students will be able to do 3D printing now. And one teacher said that a broken bookshelf that she and her students have had to look at every day will be replaced with "a new nice shelf." (More mass shootings stories.)
