(AP Photo/Susan Walsh) Last Wednesday, President Trump called out Jeff Sessions on Twitter, and this Wednesday, President Trump ... called out Jeff Sessions on Twitter. The morning tweet: "Why is A.G. Jeff Sessions asking the Inspector General to investigate potentially massive FISA abuse. Will take forever, has no prosecutorial power and already late with reports on Comey etc. Isn’t the I.G. an Obama guy? Why not use Justice Department lawyers? DISGRACEFUL!" The Washington Post reports the attorney general on Tuesday stated he is having an internal watchdog, Justice Department Inspector General Michael Horowitz, probe GOP claims that FBI secured a warrant for the surveillance of Carter Page by deceiving the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court. Politico notes that though Trump referred to Horowitz as an "Obama guy," he worked in other DOJ roles under Presidents HW Bush, Clinton, and Bush; the younger Bush handed him a political appointment. Horowitz has been behind the recovery of controversial text messages between two FBI officials. (More Jeff Sessions stories.) Report an error
