The "Donald Trump has tiny hands" meme seems to have staying power—at least over at Wired, where a Chrome extension that automatically changed the words "Donald Trump" to "Someone With Tiny Hands" caused great confusion on Tuesday. The magazine issued a correction blaming an "oversight involving a haphazardly-installed Chrome extension during the editing process" after Trump was repeatedly referred to as Tiny Hands in one article, but it didn't notice until later that at least one other story had been affected, Gizmodo reports. "Even if Someone With Tiny Hands or Sanders dropped out of the race tomorrow, they're still going to have fans," a merchandising company chief was quoted as saying.

At Wired, Jason Tanz says the confusion arose because a member of the art team had the anti-Trump extension on their browser, and "our production team thought the phrase was a meta-gag, and let it through." Tanz takes a look at the whole concept of text-replacement extensions and finds that while they can be briefly hilarious, the idea amounts to "filtering out or editing anything you might disagree with—not to make a public argument or convince anyone, but merely to comfort or amuse yourself." Marco Rubio, meanwhile, who launched the "tiny hands" line of attack, told an MSNBC town hall Wednesday night that he's "not entirely proud" of the personal attacks and his "kids were embarrassed by it."
