Mormon Church OK With Gay Boy Scouts

A proposal that would allow gay Boy Scouts is getting a high-profile thumbs-up ahead of its May vote. The Mormon Church supports the move, it says. "We have followed the discussion and are satisfied that BSA has made a thoughtful, good-faith effort to address issues that, as they have said, remain 'among the most complex and challenging issues facing the BSA and society today,'" the church said in a statement—which, the Los Angeles Times notes, doesn't mention sexuality. The proposal does not allow for gay leaders.
