He's seeking the same independents who gave him the 2000 primary win, the New York Times reports. McCain faces competition from antiwar candidates Barack Obama and Ron Paul, but says he believes his campaign has earned a second look. He’s also seen Granite State rivals disappear as Mike Huckabee’s rise has detained Mitt Romney in Iowa and Rudy Giuliani has moved on.
