McQueary: I Didn't Turn and Run

Mike McQueary has told former Penn State teammates that contrary to what many people infer from his grand jury testimony, he didn't allow Jerry Sandusky to continue what he was doing when McQueary allegedly saw him attack a 10-year-old boy, the New York Daily News reports. "I didn't turn and run," the assistant coach—who has been placed on administrative leave—says in the email. “I made sure it stopped … I had to make quick, tough decisions."

When McQueary allegedly saw Sandusky raping the boy in 2002, he left the room to tell his father and met with head coach Joe Paterno the next day, according to the grand jury's findings. In an interview with NBC, Sandusky—who is facing dozens of abuse charges—said he is innocent. Asked about the 2002 incident, he said McQueary might have seen "snapping a towel or horseplay," but not a rape. Asked why McQueary would lie, Sandusky responded: "You'd have to ask him that."
