Troy Davis' Request to Take Polygraph Rejected

One more rejection for Troy Davis: Prison officials rebuffed his lawyers' attempts this morning to have him take a polygraph test, reports the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. The decision makes his execution at 7pm EDT all the more likely, though furious efforts continue to win a reprieve. His lawyers filed another appeal today challenging ballistics tests in the 1989 murder of a Georgia police officer.

"We came here to try and prove Mr. Davis is innocent and unfortunately we were denied that opportunity by the Department of Corrections," said Davis attorney Stephen Marsh. Protesters were gathering outside the prison. The dead officer's mother, meanwhile, says she has "no doubt" about Davis' guilt.
