Bachmann Won't Rule Out Dropping the Minimum Wage

Michele Bachmann says everything would be on the table in her administration when it came to trying to boost employment—including dropping the federal minimum wage. Asked yesterday if she would consider changing the minimum wage to make US labor costs more competitive with overseas costs, she replied, "I'm not married to anything. I'm not saying that's where I'm going to go," the AP reports.

Bachmann spoke at an Angie's Subs in Florida, where she also called for lowering corporate taxes. She promised to bring in a host of private sector advisers, "because that's what we've been missing from President Obama." At one point she forgot she was in a local sub shop and made a reference to "good businesses like Subway," only to be drowned out by the crowd shouting, "Angie's!" She later led an "Angie's Subs!" chant to make up for it.
