Dad Sues for $80M in Drowning of 3 Kids

The sad story of a New York mother who committed suicide by driving into the Hudson River in April, drowning three of her four young children, now has a hefty lawsuit attached. The kids' biological father is suing the city of Newburgh and Orange County for a total of $80 million, the Times Herald-Record reports. Jean Pierre alleges that the city boat ramp where the incident took place is too dangerous and that county officials should have been keeping a closer watch on his estranged girlfriend and the children.

He noted that their 2-year-old was found walking alone outside in February only partially dressed. It was Pierre, however, who was arrested for leaving the child alone when he went to a gas station that night. "Someone should file a claim against him," the aunt of the children's mother, LaShanda Armstrong, tells the newspaper. "Are you kidding me?" (More Hudson River stories.)
