Lay Off Marcus Bachmann

An “angry mob” of gay-rights supporters are slamming the anti-gay Marcus Bachmann, suggesting he’s a hypocrite who’s not as “straight an arrow as he purports to be.” Though Bachmann’s views on homosexuality are indefensible, the activists themselves may be the real hypocrites, writes Meghan Daum in the Los Angeles Times. “Isn't it a little ironic that the Bachmanns are being hectored by people who regularly preach tolerance and rail against stereotypes?”

“It isn't acting gay that Bachmann deplores; it's gay acts. And there's no evidence he's broken his own rules about the latter,” Daum notes. “No one has caught Bachmann in anything resembling a ‘wide stance.’” Call him “sad, retrograde, and deluded,” but “stick to the facts,” Daum writes. “Even if there were truth to the innuendo, how do you pin hypocrisy on someone who practices what he preaches?” Catch Daum's whole column here.
