Celebrity | Duke and Duchess of Cambridge Quebec Pol Slams Visit From Royal 'Parasites' Prince William, Kate Middleton not warmly received by Amir Khadir By Evann Gastaldo Posted Jun 1, 2011 10:30 AM CDT Updated Jun 1, 2011 10:52 AM CDT Copied In this image taken from video, Britain's Prince William, left, looks at his wife, Kate, the Duchess of Cambridge, at Westminster Abbey for the Royal Wedding in London on Friday, April, 29, 2011. (AP Photo/APTN) Suffice it to say Quebec legislator Amir Khadir is not happy about the upcoming royal visit. Khadir, leader of a small left-wing party, said yesterday that taxpayers shouldn’t have to pay for Prince William’s planned summer visit with his new wife, the Duchess of Cambridge. Khadir, a self-described separatist, compared the British royal family to "parasites" in a tabloid interview, the AP reports, and the Quebec government has since demanded an apology. Khadir isn’t backing down from his original remarks: "If this is a tourist attraction I would at least like it if the principals involved, the prince and the princess, knew it—knew that we're bringing them here a little bit like we do with circus tours," he said yesterday.
